Davis Brothers Farm Shop

The Davis Brothers' Farm Shop Museum is one of three museums we operate, and was made possible by a generous donation of the land, buildings, and artifacts by Jim and Patti Davis.

The Farm Shop is the site of our annual Farm Fest held on the fourth Saturday in August. Inside the farm shop, visitors will find a working blacksmith shop. In addition, and exhibit called, Centennial Farms of Lapeer County, shares the stories and photos of more than 180 historical farms.

A saw mill once used on the Davis farm has been restored and is operating during Farm Fest and other special events.

Other outdoor demonstrations include threshing oat and wheat with a vintage thresher. A 1930s stationary baler bales the straw from the threshing machine. Other vintage farm equipment is on display.

We have developed a farm history education program for elementary students. This program provides hands-on learning activities to acquaint children with farm life in an earlier time.

A 4-H Exhibit provides artifacts, pictures, and news stories about that organization.

There are other exhibits reflecting farm life in the 1930s and 1940s.

The Maple Sugarbush Memorial Grove has expanded yearly as individuals adopt trees to be planted in memory or honor of loved ones. A belt of native white pine was donated and planted by Chatfield students.
